Eva: Follow the Path Past the Tennis Courts and Take the Stairs Down to the Large Bathing Pier

Eva Landmark Knudsen, owner of the café and Havblik in Gilleleje, swims in the sea all year round – and naturally, she has a favourite beach. She hunts for flea market treasures, picks wildflowers along country roads, and finds inspiration at her favourite art museum.

1. Bjerre Beach

I love swimming in the sea all year round. There are many wonderful beaches and bathing piers along the North Coast, but one particularly beautiful and peaceful spot is Bjerre Beach, located just beyond the tennis courts in Humlebæk. Follow the path past the tennis courts and take the stairs down to the large bathing pier – a wonderful place to sunbathe on a warm summer day.

2. Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

My favourite museum, where I have been a member for many years and enjoyed countless great art experiences throughout my life, is the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Beautifully located on the coast in Humlebæk, with nature and the sea as its backdrop, it is a place that never fails to inspire me.

3. Eghjorten Nature Playground

We spent countless hours at this forest playground when our children were younger. We enjoyed campfires, outdoor play, and even celebrated children's birthdays here. It is a fantastic place for families to spend time together in nature.

4. The Flea Market Route

I love treasure hunting at flea markets, and along the Flea Market Route, you'll find a string of antique shops and second-hand stores across North Zealand.

5. Pick Your Own Flowers

Along Harreshøjvej, between Tikøb and Esrum, you'll find a large pick-your-own flower field on the left side of the road. Throughout the summer, you can pick the most beautiful wildflower-style bouquets completely free of charge. Just keep an eye out for the sign.

6. Roadside Farm Stalls

Across the countryside of North Zealand, you'll find charming roadside stalls selling seasonal flowers, fruit and vegetables. One of my favourites is the farm shop Birkely on Villingerødvej 31 in Dronningmølle.

7. Gastronomy and Norwegian Sculptures

We love visiting Skipperhuset, a small and cosy restaurant with a stunning waterfront location. As a Norwegian, I highly recommend combining your visit with a walk through Nordmandsdalen in the Fredensborg Palace Gardens, where you can experience the unique sandstone sculptures depicting Norwegian farmers and fishermen from the 18th century.

8. Havblik Gilleleje

On the harbour in Gilleleje, you'll find my own café and lifestyle store, Havblik Gilleleje. Inspired by Nordic maritime living, we combine great coffee, carefully selected delicacies, sustainable design and beautiful vintage finds – treats for both your home and your taste buds.
