Jan: Where Art and Nature come together in Exhibitions

North Zealand is best experienced by bike, with a swim in the sea, or surrounded by art, says Jan Hybertz Gøricke, Head of Press at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Here, he shares his hidden gems in North Zealand, where nature, art, black coffee, and a Danish pastry are essential.

1. Antons Bakery and Café

A perfect stop – for example, a classic “bakery stop” during a bike ride. I’ll go for a Danish pastry and a black coffee.

2. The Nivaagaard Collection

I would love another visit to “Sanctuary for Endangered Words” and to see the exhibition with Richard Winther.

3. Fish & Chips from the Fish Shop at Sletten Harbour

Fish & Chips in the sunshine on the pier!

4. Aarstiderne Café and Farm Shop, Krogerup

The wide selection in the shop is tempting, and the café is always cosy – both indoors and outdoors.

5. A Swim in the Øresund

– from the bathing pier at Louisiana (Jean Nouvel’s pier). The perfect refreshment on a warm summer day.

There is beauty everywhere in North Zealand – especially when explored by bike Jan Hybertz Gøricke

6. Exploring North Zealand by bike

North Zealand is beautiful – especially by bike, where you experience both towns and landscapes up close.

7. Frederiksborg Castle

Arriving at Frederiksborg Castle is always exceptionally beautiful, and the Museum of National History features many fascinating exhibitions and collections.

8. Munkeruphus

An inspiring exhibition venue – where art and nature merge in both the exhibitions and the experience of getting there.

9. Nakkehoved Lighthouse

A magnificent view over the Øresund and Kattegat, best enjoyed together with a packed picnic.
