Discover North Zealand’s royal history on foot. Embark on a unique hiking experience, following in the footsteps of past kings through the beautiful landscapes of North Zealand. In the Footsteps of Majesty combines scenic nature with cultural heritage, guiding you through Denmark’s royal landscapes.
The royal hiking experience takes place every year on the first Saturday of week 40. The event kicks off on Saturday, 4 October 2025.
All routes start and end at the iconic Esrum Abbey, which leads you through the forest and into the unique UNESCO-listed par force hunting landscape, Frederiksborg Castle, and Fredensborg Palace.
Along the way, you will hike through some of Denmark’s oldest forests. There will be refreshment stations with water, fruit, and snacks for participants along the route.
