A Mission for the Whole Family

In the Realm of Plants, you can take part in a special mission to become Plant Guardians. Along the way, you collect clues, solve challenges, and discover the fascinating abilities hidden within trees, flowers, and roots. During the journey, you will meet the Tree of Wisdom, which guides visitors through the mission and helps reveal nature’s secrets.

Admission includes activities and access to exhibitions

• Experience summer at Esrum Monastery every day from 29 June to 9 August 2026.
• Adults: DKK 110 | Children (5–18 years): DKK 65 | Children under 5: Free
• Tickets can be purchased on the day at the Abbey Shop.
• The experience is primarily aimed at children aged 5–12 and their families.

Discover the Powers of Nature

The mission features activities inspired by bushcraft, traditional nature crafts, and ancient knowledge. You can try historic techniques for yourself while learning about the important role plants have played throughout history.

Hands-On Activities in Nature

Among the activities, visitors can:

• Create a drawing with charcoal over an open fire
• Learn about medicinal herbs and make plant-based salves
• Carve wood and work with natural materials
• Make cordage from nettles
• Challenge tree roots in a fun activity about water absorption
• Solve the final riddle to earn the title of Plant Guardian

Explore at Your Own Pace

Upon arrival in the Realm of Plants near the Monastery Garden, each family receives a Plant Guardian booklet and bag to accompany them throughout the experience.

Activities can be enjoyed at your own pace, allowing you to spend as much time as you wish at each station. Whether for a few hours or a full day, there is plenty of opportunity for exploration, learning, and play.

As the mission draws to a close, the final challenge awaits beneath the old maple tree. Here, new Plant Guardians can be welcomed into the Realm of Plants after completing their adventure.
