Winter Break with Masks, Stories and Archaeology at Elværket in Hillerød

During the winter school holiday, Museum North Zealand invites families to enjoy creative and historical experiences in Hillerød. The exhibition Timeless North Zealanders sets the scene for a fun and educational carnival experience for children and adults alike.

Make Your Own Carnival Mask

The mask-making workshop is free and open to everyone. Children and adults can design and decorate their own carnival masks using feathers, templates and colours – all materials are provided by the museum.

Learn Through Play

The exhibition comes to life through a range of child-friendly activities:

Be an Archaeologist for a Day

In the children's “Archaeolab”, you can try excavating a skeleton and explore how archaeologists work with historical finds.

Storytime in the Castle Cave

Settle into the little castle and listen to stories being read aloud in a cosy corner of the exhibition.

Show Your Own Treasure

Children are welcome to bring an object from home that they consider a treasure. It can be displayed at the museum and automatically enters a draw for an annual pass.

Explore Timeless North Zealanders

Between activities, there’s plenty of time to explore the new exhibition showcasing unique objects and stories from 10,000 years of local history.

Join a Guided Tour

Special family-friendly tours are available during the winter break, where museum staff share insights into the objects and the making of the exhibition.
