Experience Kirsten Klein's exhibition "SFÆRISK" at Munkeruphus.

Munkeruphus celebrates Kirsten Klein with a grand exhibition in honor of her 80th birthday. Experience her iconic landscape photography and new, surprising works.

A New Perspective on a Great Artist

In celebration of Kirsten Klein’s 80th birthday, Munkeruphus presents a comprehensive exhibition that not only showcases her iconic landscape photography but also sheds new light on lesser-known aspects of her work. The exhibition highlights her deep portrayals of rural life on Mors and her encounters with people from different cultures, where landscapes and everyday life are inseparably intertwined.

Through a carefully curated collection of works, the exhibition reveals how Klein’s photography goes beyond the beauty of nature to capture the complex interplay between people, culture, and surroundings. This will be one of the most extensive presentations of her artistic work to date.

Kirsten Klein – A Master of Landscape Poetry

For decades, Kirsten Klein has been one of Denmark’s most significant photographic artists. Since the 1980s, she has been particularly recognized for her atmospheric black-and-white landscape photographs, where nature’s power and fragility merge into unique compositions.

Her work stems from a deep connection to nature—not as an idyllic backdrop but as a living, sensory part of human existence. With a rare ability to capture the fleeting changes of weather, light, and seasons, she has created images that transcend documentation and become meditative visual poetry.
