The Baroque Garden at Frederiksborg Castle

The Baroque Garden at Frederiksborg Castle is a faithful reconstruction of the original Baroque garden established by King Frederik IV in 1725. This type of garden was very popular at the time and served as a powerful symbol of the king’s control over nature. Unlike the freer and more natural English romantic garden, the Baroque Garden is man‑made, with every element meticulously planned and designed to impress and display the king’s status and wealth.

You will leave Frederiksborg Castle with a deeper understanding of Baroque aesthetics and history – and perhaps even inspired to create something beautiful in your own garden
