Fun family activities for the UNESCO anniversary | The Par Force Hunting Landscape

Step into the 18th-century hunting landscape, as horses, riders, and family activities fill the forest at Eghjorten.

Experience the Hunting Atmosphere of the 18th Century in the Forest near Hillerød

Step back in time as Museum Nordsjælland and the Danish Nature Agency North Zealand celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Par Force Hunting Landscape’s recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On Saturday, October 4, the area around the nature playground Eghjorten will be transformed into a living historical universe, where both children and adults can experience the spirit of 18th-century hunting traditions.

See beautiful horses and riders in authentic 18th-century costumes ride through the forest, take a carriage ride, and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a time when royal power and nature went hand in hand. Children can look forward to a fun and educational “hunt” for red deer, where the forest paths and clearings create a magical setting for small adventures in nature.

This event is more than just a celebration – it is a living story about a unique landscape, where King Christian V designed straight hunting roads and advanced planning to create the framework for the par force hunt. Today, the landscape stands as a symbol of world-class cultural heritage, and the anniversary will be marked with a day full of history, activity, and experiences in nature.
