Autumn holiday at Nivaagaard: Art, creativity and experiences for the whole family
During the autumn holiday, Nivaagaards Malerisamling invites children and adults to enjoy creative experiences combining art, history and hands-on activities. Follow in Johannes Hage’s footsteps between the museum and the Ring Oven, or explore colours and shapes in a family workshop inspired by Christine Swane.

In the footsteps of a collector
Follow in the footsteps of Johannes Hage, founder of both Nivaagaards Malerisamling and Nivaagaard Brickworks Ring Oven. Throughout the day, families can take part in activities at both the museum and the Ring Oven.
- Wednesday 14 October, 11.00–15.00
- Location: Nivaagaards Malerisamling and Nivaagaard Brickworks Ring Oven
Creative workshop and activities at the Ring Oven
At the museum, there is a children’s workshop with the resident artist from 11.00–14.00.
At Nivaagaard Brickworks Ring Oven, activities take place from 11.00–15.00. The forge will be fired up, giving children and playful adults the chance to experience the historic setting. At 13.15, there is a guided tour for older children and adults. Practical clothing that can get dirty is recommended.
From the museum, visitors can walk through the park to the Ring Oven, a distance of approximately 600 metres. The Ring Oven is located at Teglværksvej 23, Nivå. No registration is required for the activities.
Paint like Christine Swane
How can plants, coloured glass and light brushstrokes become a painting? In this family workshop, children and adults can create their own compositions inspired by Christine Swane’s colourful motifs and greenhouse.
- Friday 16 October, 11.00–14.00
- Location: Nivaagaards Malerisamling
Explore colours, shapes and materials
Participants will work with oil pastels, kraft paper and acrylic paint, exploring how light colours, shapes and simple materials can create different moods. Artist Marina Pagh will guide the workshop, which is suitable for both children and adults.
