FAQ

What is a handicap in golf?

A golf handicap shows how good you are. The golfer's handicap is a number that shows how many strokes it is expected to use on a course. In golf, it's about using as few strokes as you can to get through the course. So the lower the disability, the better you are.

What is a DGU Card?

To get a DGU card it requires you to take a Golf driving license, get a golf handicap (hcp) and enrol in a golf club. The golf driving license introduces you to the game and educates you in the rules, percussion techniques, track games and etiquette. Read more here: Danish Golf Union and about golf driving licenses.

What is greenfee?

Green fees are a fee to pay for a round of golf at a golf course. Most courses in Denmark require you to have a DGU Card, which shows you are a member of the Danish Golf Union. You can also buy yourself a Pay and Play on many courses if you are not a member.

What is pay and play?

If you are not a member of a golf club or have a DGU card (Danish Golf Union) which is a card you need to play on the Danish golf courses, then you can use Pay and Play. Here you pay in the golf shop. You also have the opportunity to rent equipment if you do not own that yourself.

What do I do with my mobile phone while playing golf?

You can easily have your mobile on you while playing golf. It's a good idea to put it on silent so you don't disturb others. Many also use their mobile during the golf game. There is an app called Golfshot which can be used to keep score, set lengths and distances for the various obstacles and for the green. Click here to read more and download the appén.

Where can I find golf rules?

At Dansk Golf Union you can read all about rules for playing golf. Find them all on Dansk Golfunion
