North Zealand is crisscrossed by many exciting roads, paths, and routes that are not signposted as official cycling or hiking trails. They are waiting to be discovered, and to help you get started, we have selected some tour suggestions.

Halsninoen | 53 km hiking route through Halsnæs
The signposted hiking route, Halsninoen, takes you on a friendly varied 53 km. Trip from Hundested in the west to Strø Bjerge in the south.

The Royal trails: Discover Hillerød on an 12 km Bike ride
Experience a royal adventure on this 12-kilometre bike ride from Hillerød. Explore the beautiful Parforce landscape and be fascinated by the majestic compass stone in Store Dyrehave. This is the bike tour that takes you on a royal adventure.

Royal Power and the Power of Water | Historical Hike on Arrenæs
The new historical hiking route Royal Power and the Power of Water follows along Arresø Canal to Arrenæs in North Zealand. Along the way, you'll pass through some of North Zealand's most beautiful nature and a series of historically significant sites that tell the story of royal power and the importance of water power.

The Yellow Quality Path | Walk Through Tisvilde Hegn in North Zealand
Go from yellow dot to yellow dot through Tisvilde Hegn by the North coast. On the trip, you'll pass an abandoned village, castle ruins, Troldeskoven and fascinating raw nature that you don't normally associate with Denmark.

Step into the Fredensborg Palace Garden - a walk for everyone, both two- and four-legged adventurous souls
Take your family on a journey through the Fredensborg Palace Garden. You'll experience the best of the best on this 5 km walk, starting in front of Fredensborg Palace and following the shores of Lake Esrum to the back of the palace, continuing along the Chancellor's House and back.

Kulsvierstien - 3.5 km through the varied landscape near Hillerød
The Kulsvierstien near Hillerød is a 3.5 km footpath through a varied North Sealand landscape, created with hills and small lakes. Most people can join this walk.

Gilbjergstien | A tour suggestion at Gilleleje
Gilbjergstien is a beautiful hiking trail, from Vesterbrogade in Gilleleje to Gilbjerghoved. There is a wonderful view from the up to 33 m high slopes beyond the Kattegat to Kullaberget (Kullen) in Sweden. Along the way, you pass the Gilbjerg stone and the memorial stone for the philosopher Søren Kirkegaard. The trip can also be done by bike.

A Walk on Arrenæs - A Unique Nature Experience
If you haven't taken a walk on Arrenæs, a part of the Halsninoen hiking trail, this is the journey where you'll surely be surprised by the variety the 5.3 km walk can offer. The walk offers views from the heights overlooking lake Arresø with glimpses of Ramløse, Vinderød, and Annisse.

Kings and Columbus - A bike tour around Roskilde Fjord
Embark on a bike tour around Roskilde Fjord to visit Denmark's first industrial city, Frederiksværk, and Jægerspris Castle, both created by the Danish kings. Located by the fjord and surrounded by forests, they share the history of the transition from the absolute power of kings to democracy. Explore the history through the Arsenal, Gunpowder Works Museum, and Jægerspris Castle.

Art and culture by bike - 3 museums in one day in North Zealand
Explore art and history at Munkeruphus, Rudolph Tegner's Museum & Statue Park, and Esrum Abbey - all in one day. The bike tour takes you along the coast of Øresund from Gilleleje to Dronningmølle, and as the route turns into the rolling landscape, you'll also get a glimpse into the history of how kings have shaped the landscape, dug canals, and built castles.

Walk along the North Coast - Dronningmølle to Hornbæk
Start your five-kilometre walk from Dronningmølle Station, past the inviting Café DreamCafé and Dronningmølle Beach. Enjoy the coastal path with views of Kullen and Sweden as you head towards Hornbæk, and settle down at Hornbæk Harbour for a relaxing break with swimming and lunch options.

Langstrupstien - Cycling from Fredensborg to Nivå
The Langstrup Trail takes you from Fredensborg through villages and forests to the marshlands of Nivå by the Øresund.

Take the family on a bike tour - 16 km around Hundested
This tour is perfect for families with young children, offering many stopping points including Spodsbjerg Lighthouse, Knud Rasmussen's House, Kikhavn, Tothaven, the beach at Sølager, Lynæs Harbour, and Hundested Sand Sculpture Park.

Royal Gardens - A walk through the King's landscapes
Take a royal stroll around Hillerød's castle lake, where you'll be guided through the historic Baroque garden adorned with royal monograms, and into Frederiksborg Castle Gardens with its charming "wild" nature.

Kierkegaard by Nature – an interactive hiking route in Gilleleje.
Søren Kierkegaard Walked into some of his greatest thoughts on long hikes along the North Coast at Gilleleje. Follow in his footsteps on a 12 km Hiking Route through beautiful nature, and enjoy a wonderful natural experience and an introduction to Denmark’s famous philosopher.

Nivå Walking Route - Rhododendrons and brickwork history
Explore Nivå through the small streets and paths known only to the locals on this 6,5 km hike.

On the hiking route around Esrum Monastery, you walk in the footsteps of the monks. Explore the area and its significance for the monks of the powerful medieval monastery. The tour is four kilometres long and features three themed trails.

The Lake Path in Hillerød
By bike or foot along the lakeshore between castle and town. Søstien offers a scenic bike - or walk around Slotssøen, with magnificent views of Frederiksborg Castle. You are close to both Hillerød's city centre, a unique renaissance castle and lovely nature with lots of water, trees and birdlife.

The Crown Route - Around North Zealand
Experience the beautiful North Zealand landscape, the Danish Riviera and Roskilde Fjord. An obvious ride for the adventurous cyclists. The cycle route for you who want to see castles, fishing villages and beaches.

Tour suggestion: The tree big trees
Take the bike south through Gribskov from Esrum Kloster. On this tour, you will pass the three thickest oak trees in the area. The trip is approx. 9.8 km. Long.

Tour Suggestion: The cycle tour to Storedam and Væltningen
This cycle tour, starting from Esrum Kloster, takes you north to Snævret Skov, where you come close to Storedam and Væltningen. The trip is approx. 7.2 km.

Tour Suggestion: Panorama route - Bird tour to Gribsø
This bike ride offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the view over Lake Esrum. When you drive along Søvejen, in addition to enjoying the fresh forest and lake air, you can also enjoy the view over the lake. The trip is approx. 10.5 km.
