A harbour surrounded by nature

Frederiksværk Harbour lies on Roskilde Fjord, where steep slopes and views across the water provide a beautiful setting for the harbour. Stroll along the quayside, find a spot by the water or stay to watch the sunset over the fjord.

The harbour is also close to Frederiksværk, making it easy to combine nature and harbour life with a trip into town.

Crab fishing, playground and swimming

There is plenty for children to enjoy at the harbour. They can play in the playground or try crab fishing by Bridge 6. The harbour provides fishing nets and life jackets for children.

At the western pier, two bathing jetties provide easy access to Roskilde Fjord for a swim. Membership of Frederiksværk Fjordbad also gives you access to a sauna.

You will also find barbecue areas around the harbour, where you can enjoy your own food overlooking the boats and water.

Fresh fish and food at the harbour

  • If you enjoy seafood, visit Det Fisk, which offers a wide selection of fish and seafood products. You can also buy hot fish dishes and different varieties of Danish fish cakes to enjoy by the shop.
  • The harbour is also home to KRAM Spiseri, serving a selection of dishes including grilled food and traditional Danish open sandwiches.
  • If you want to explore the area on two wheels, bicycles are available to hire from the harbour office.

From the harbour to Frederiksværk

Frederiksværk town centre is around 1.5 kilometres from the harbour. Here you will find shops, cafés and restaurants as well as the town’s distinctive canals, which have helped earn Frederiksværk the nickname “the Venice of Denmark”.

A trip to the harbour can easily be combined with exploring Frederiksværk’s historic industrial heritage. The town’s development is closely linked to hydropower, craftsmanship and industry, and traces of this history can still be seen in several places. Frederiksværk Harbour is therefore a great starting point for combining the fjord, harbour life and cultural history in one trip.
