Art Tour at Knud Rasmussen’s House: Harald Moltke Discover Harald Moltke’s Greenlandic Universe

Embark on an atmospheric journey into Greenland’s vast landscapes and the magic of the Northern Lights at Knud Rasmussen’s House. This special event focuses on the artist Harald Moltke and his close connection to Knud Rasmussen and the Greenland expeditions.

An Artist in the Arctic Wilderness

Harald Moltke is particularly known for his evocative paintings of the Northern Lights and Arctic landscapes. As a participant in the Literary Greenland Expedition (1902–1904), he worked closely with Knud Rasmussen to document both the natural environment and the people of Greenland.

Art and Documentation

Moltke combined artistic sensitivity with a documentary approach. His works offer a rare insight into life in Greenland in the early twentieth century, conveying both the grandeur of nature and the everyday lives of its inhabitants.

Talk and Guided Tour in Historic Surroundings

The event begins with an engaging talk about Harald Moltke’s life, his artistic work and his participation in the expeditions that shaped his career.

Afterwards, participants are invited on a guided tour of Knud Rasmussen’s House. Here, original paintings and drawings can be experienced at close range – works that still characterise the rooms and contribute to the story of exploration, art and cultural encounters in the Arctic.
