A brisk walk in Torup - The Dyssekilde village and fields
Explore the picturesque Dyssekilde on this 4.5 km hike in Torup, which takes you through open landscapes and offers birdlife and local farm shops on the outskirts of the National Park Royal North Zealand.

This 4.5 km walk follows a signposted route created by the residents of Torup together with the organisation “Spor”. The route takes you through Dyssekilde and along field boundaries to the farm shop at Engmosegaard. From here, follow Sverkilstrupvejen/Haldvejen back to Dyssekilde Station.
Along the way, you can experience the area’s birdlife and nature up close. The route lies just outside Royal North Zealand National Park and takes you through the open landscapes of the Halsnæs peninsula, past farmland and fields around Dyssekilde.
Where the walk starts
The walk begins at Dyssekilde Station – and this is no ordinary station. Here, you can browse books, hire a bicycle or visit the popular Torup food market.
The market is open on Saturdays in odd-numbered weeks during the summer season. On market days, you can also join a guided tour of Dyssekilde. In 1990, the site was simply a potato field. Today, around 200 people live here in 91 households, and the area is known for its strong sense of community and distinctive architecture.

Follow the signs with the yellow arrow
At the station, you will see the first “Spor” sign with a yellow arrow on a green background. The route is signposted all the way back to the station.
The first sign leads you through Dyssekilde. Follow the signs along Stjernerne, turn right onto Solen and continue towards the shop and Torup Spisehus by the central car park.
Follow Mælkevej through the car park and the maintenance area. Just before you reach the open countryside, keep left. The route then takes you through the kitchen gardens and past the small Dyssekær lake before the signs lead you onwards along the field.
Field boundaries, lakes and small paths
Along the way, you will also come across a sign for Halsninoen, a 52 km walking route around Halsnæs.
You now follow the field boundaries and cross two roads before reaching two small lakes. From here, follow the boundary to the right until the path ends at Sverkilstrupvejen. There are benches along the way where you can take a break and perhaps spot some of the many migrating birds that pass over Halsnæs.
Visit Engmosegaard
After visiting Engmosegaard, you can either follow the same path back or walk along Sverkilstrupvejen/Haldvejen through Torup to Dyssekilde Station.
