Hillerød Town Museum welcomes creative Easter fun

Hillerød Town Museum opens the season with a creative Easter atmosphere. In the museum’s cosy setting, children and adults can cut Easter decorations, paint cards, and explore the town’s history – all surrounded by the beautiful Frederiksborg Castle Gardens.

Creative Easter in the museum workshop

The small painting workshop invites visitors to enjoy quality time across generations. Here, guests can draw and cut out Easter decorations or paint personal Easter cards for friends and family.

Museum Nordsjælland, which operates Hillerød Town Museum, provides materials and templates. This creates an ideal opportunity to let creativity flow while reflecting on how Easter decorations looked 20 or 50 years ago. Afterwards, visitors can continue their experience in the museum’s exhibitions.

Local history at eye level for children

Hillerød Town Museum is a family-friendly museum beautifully located in the Frederiksborg Castle Gardens. The exhibitions present the history of Hillerød from the Middle Ages to the modern town in an engaging and accessible way.

There is plenty of room for curious minds and hands-on exploration, making learning a natural part of the visit.

Tidens Gade – a journey 100 years back in time

On the first floor, children can explore Tidens Gade and discover what it was like to be a child nearly 100 years ago. In the old grocery shop, visitors can play shopkeeper, turn the handle of the historic cash register, and weigh out coffee while exploring goods from great-grandfather’s time.

Have-Grethe’s nursery and the everyday life of the past

In Have-Grethe’s nursery, children can experience daily life from another era. Copper pots can be lifted on the cast-iron stove, the washboard can be tested, and the rag doll can be taken for a ride.

The exhibition about Nordsten Maskinfabrik features plenty of Tekno toys, allowing young engineers and their adults to build machines together. The old classroom invites visitors to try chalk, blackboards, and traditional school desks.

Café and museum shop

The museum café offers hot and cold drinks along with sweet treats in nostalgic surroundings. The museum shop sells traditional toys, sweets, books about Hillerød’s history, postcards, posters, and cut-out sheets to continue the experience at home.
