Tothaven Dairy & Café – Homemade Ice Cream and Cheese from the Farm

Just a stone’s throw from the Kattegat and the small, old fishing village of Kikhavn near Hundested lies the cosy visitor farm Tothaven, where you can, in addition to visiting a whole range of friendly animals, purchase delightful homemade ice‑cream made from milk from their own goats.

Dairy and homemade ice cream

Tothaven also has its own little on‑farm dairy, where handcrafted ice‑lollies and cheeses are produced from the milk of the farm’s milking goats. Taste the ice cream, the cheese, and the other homemade treats in the café and farm shop. Read more about the dairy on the farm.

In addition, there is a smaller production of goat cheeses, goat‑milk yoghurts, and ice‑lollies. All dairy products are based on freshly‑milked goat’s milk from the 15 milking goats on the pasture. Milking takes place eight months of the year, from April to November.

The milk is at its best when the goats have the opportunity to spend ample time outdoors grazing. For two months before and two months after the goats kid, they are entirely free from being milked.

In the small dairy, just 50 metres from the goats’ stable, the milk is gently pasteurised and then transformed into either cheese, yoghurt, or ice‑cream. Four different cheeses are produced, a drained yoghurt and a variety of ice‑lollies — both from goat’s milk and as sorbet.

Furthermore, dulce de leche made from goat’s milk, goat‑milk soaps, and beeswax cream are produced. All these products are available for purchase in the farm shop and café.

The little self‑service farm shop by the road is open daily from April to November. Here you can buy cheese, ice‑cream, goat‑milk soaps, and beeswax cream.
