Explore the Ocean’s Treasures on a Seaweed Expedition

Join a unique seaweed expedition along the coasts of Halsnæs. Gain practical experience in harvesting and valuable insights into the ocean's resources, the ecological role of seaweed, and its potential as a nutritious food source.

A Journey into the World of Seaweed

During this unique expedition, you will learn about the various seaweed species found along the Danish coastline. Discover the biology of seaweed, its importance for marine biodiversity, and why it is considered a superfood – just 6 grams of dried seaweed provide the same vitamins and minerals as 600 grams of vegetables.

You’ll also receive tips on storage and preparation, bringing the ocean’s flavours to your kitchen.

Hands-On Harvesting with a Sustainable Focus

We begin with a 45-minute lecture introducing different seaweed species and sustainable harvesting techniques. Then we head to the shoreline, equipped with waders, to harvest seaweed firsthand. You'll learn to identify species and harvest responsibly, leaving nature intact.

Along the way, we’ll taste seasonal coastal herbs and explore their culinary applications.

Enhancing Biodiversity and Producing Healthy Food

Gain insight into how seaweed cultivation and eelgrass planting can improve marine biodiversity. This effort is not only vital for the environment but also creates a new source of sustainable food.
