A unique experience above the castle halls
Above Frederiksborg’s historic interiors lies an impressive attic space with vast roof constructions and centuries-old timber work. Visitors gain rare insight into the architecture and craftsmanship that have supported the castle roofs for generations. The tour explores the history, function, and daily life connected to these hidden spaces beneath the roof.
Through hidden staircases and historic spaces
The guided tour leads visitors through narrow winding staircases to areas that are normally closed to the public. Along the way, guests discover a different perspective on Frederiksborg’s architecture and hidden structures above the well-known halls. From the top, visitors can also enjoy remarkable views across the castle rooftops, the town of Hillerød, and the surrounding landscape.

Meeting point, dates, price, and duration
- The guided tour begins in the entrance hall, where visitors are asked to arrive approximately 10 minutes before departure with their ticket ready, either digitally or printed.
The tour lasts approximately one hour, and the ticket includes admission to the entire museum on the same day. - The tour takes place via narrow staircases, in some places without handrails, and is therefore not suitable for visitors with limited mobility. Access with prams or wheelchairs is unfortunately not possible.
- Five guided tours are held each day:10.30 am, 11.30 am, 1.00 pm, 2.00 pm, 3.00 pm

The event offers both first-time visitors and annual pass holders the opportunity to experience a rarely seen side of Frederiksborg. The museum’s exhibitions and historic rooms can be explored both before and after the attic tour.
